3 Ways to Experience Self-Care in Washington DC

Updated: Dec 19, 2023

Are you in the DC area looking to explore some fun and creative self-care activities this weekend? Let's chat about some budget-friendly options to check out in the DC, MD, and VA areas!

Botanic Gardens

The United States Botanic Garden is a living plant museum for everyone to stroll through this summer. The garden offers a complimentary entrance, an indoor conservatory, and an outdoor garden blooming with roses and orchids.

It's ideal to set aside two hours to journey throughout the Botanic Gardens. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and water to fuel throughout their time, so pack your favorite snacks or grab a DC favorite to bring with you.

The Union Market

Speaking of tasty bites around DC, make sure you check out The Union Market this summer. This is a classic in the city, offering over 50 delicious dishes to enjoy for a self-care day. Between exploring creative fashion pieces and snacking on unique flavors, you're bound to have a fun afternoon. Check out their site for upcoming events and specials!

The DC Zoo

If you're a local in the DMV area or in town for a visit, you should add the Smithsonian's National Zoo to the bucket list. They're home to over 2,000 animals that represent 400 different species from red pandas and cheetahs to the Baltimore oriole!

They encourage you to bring walking shoes and a comfortable outfit, as it usually takes around 3 hours to explore the area. Entry to the zoo is free, but guests are required to sign up for an entry pass prior to visiting! So grab your favorite snacks, plenty of water, and a camera to capture some memories from the day.
